About Trinity...

I've been thinking a lot lately about what the purpose of The Trinity School is... why God brought these 11 students together, the five teachers and mostly, why God called me to lead them. I'm a simple girl; younger than 30 years old, with no more than five years experience teaching and He brought me to this place, to carry the message of Christianity through these students, through this school. I believe in that more than anything. What I also believe is that our students are being prepared for greatness. They are being strengthened, daily. I've seen young men and women who have grown to lean and depend on God to get them through their troubles, instead of listening to the ways of the world. I've seen young men and women lay their hearts, their wants, their desires at the foot of the Cross, humbling themselves before God and each other. They have tremendous goals for each other, for themselves, and they have a desire to leaders. That's the objective of Trinity - to strengthen, sharpen, embolden strong warriors of God to go out into the world and spread the Gospel.

I cannot begin to tell you where or what these children will do with their gifts; all I know is that they will do it in the name of Christ and furthering His kingdom.

I am immensely honored and proud of each of them, proud of the school itself, proud that I am a part of something so very special, something lasting.

It is my prayer that God will continue to bless Trinity and its students for long after I am gone.

Registration is coming up for next school year and Trinity is no exception to this. Some days, I am lost at how to promote my tiny school when there are more advantages to other schools in our area. Trinity is special, and being a part of it will change your life.

I am prayerfully asking anyone reading to add Trinity to your prayer lists. We are praying specifically for 25-40 students for next school year, so that Trinity may continue to grow and advance the kingdom of God.

We pray that you are blessed as well.

I'm a worry-wart. I worry about everything, all the time. Usually, it keeps me up at night because I can't shut off my brain because I'm worrying about everything - from how to keep Trinity running, to getting more students, to if I'm being the best teacher I can be, to individual worries about each of my students... I'm so guilty of worrying that I've really tried NOT to be that way.

This is what I've learned so far about *not* worrying...
1) You can't worry about things beyond your control. As long as you are doing what God wants you to do, and continuing to follow His plan for your life, He will take care of you. He always fulfils his promises.
2) As long as I am being the best possible Christian I can, to lead by example, God rains down his blessings upon me, and the things I am involved with.

Case in point: we have to pay these things called quarterly taxes to the federal government... something I did not realize when I sat down to look at my budget and what all I could afford to pay these wonderful teachers I have. So we had this amazing night of Gospel music, and the love offering that was taken was EXACTLY THE AMOUNT we needed to pay our quarterly taxes. Tell me God doesn't have His hand on Trinity...

Another case in point: We desperately need more students. My goal for 2011-2012 is to have at least 18... 25 would be amazing... I've been praying for God to bring us students. He knows that we need that extra tuition money every month, even this year. So what does He do? He brings me a phone call this morning from a potential parent-student transfer.

Why do I worry about silly things when I KNOW that God will take care of me & the ministry of Trinity School?

I'm overwhelmed by the response tonight to the Gospel singing that was held to benefit Trinity... blessed beyond meausure at what God is doing in the lives of those kids, in my life...

I just want to make a few comments:

1) I'm indescribeably proud of my students. They came together, sang before a group of people they barely knew, and are just a genuinely awesome group of kids. They've come so far in their young lives, from the different lives they've walked... I'm just blessed to have a part in their life.

2) There's a song out right now by Sanctus Real... anyway, the last chorus goes:

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't

And I really feel like this is what my calling has been; to lead these students, these precious children of God. I know that He is leading me, so that I can lead them. What an awesome responsibility, to teach a child to not be of the world but rather, to rise above it. I just pray that He continues to show me how to lead them.

3) Trinity was blessed beyond comprehension tonight. We were given more than $800 dollars to keep our school running; God continues to bless us because we are doing what He has called us to do, and as long as Trinity remains true to His word, and His path for us (as a school, and as individuals), He will continue to rain His blessings down on us.

4) Many, many thanks to Pam Smith, The Seekers Quartet, The Singing Oakes Family, Bethany Baptist Church and Pastor Jimmy Hobbs for everything that they did tonight. I can't say enough about them.

Benefit Singing for Trinity

On Saturday, we will be holding a benefit singing for Trinity. This event is brought to us by The Seekers Quartet & The Oakes Family Singers and we are so excited to have them share with us.

It's at 7pm, Bethany Baptist Church in Phenix City. There will be a love offering taken up at the end of the concert, to benefit Trinity, and we pray that many people will come and hear about all of the amazing things that God is doing in the lives of Trinity students, but most importantly, we pray that this time will be a time for those who don't know Him to come to know Christ. It's not about us... its about God and giving Him the glory.

Lovett Day

Recently Trinity students participated in Lovett Day, 2010, which is a big college fair at The Lovett School in Atlanta. It was the first time the Trinity students had been around college reps and I think it was an eye opening, but hopefully learning experience for them.

Kelsey, Eliza, Ana & Brandon before we head out for the college fair.

I think it is also interesting how the kids reacted to the other students. Most of them were in uniform, a direction that Trinity will eventually head towards in about 5 years or so. They're vastly underprepared for the requirements of college, which is why I believe its so important for them to be educated about college choice, and visit a few of the more widely recognizeable colleges in the Southeast. Soon we will visit Auburn University, Faulkner University, Huntington College, Auburn University at Montgomery, Columbus State University, Troy University, University of Montevallo, University of Alabama, Birmingham Southern, University of Alabama at Birmingham... and hopefully, eventually Truett-McConnell, the University of Georgia, and Young Harris College.

Why the warrior??

The Trinity School searched long and hard for a mascot, a sense of identity. From the penguins (waddling around), to the stars... bears, cubs, braves, cougars, eagles, and every other kind of animal/thing/idea imaginable, we searched. Finally, one morning, it hit me: in our mission statement it says that we are aiming to raise up strong warriors for God - well, duh. Why didn't I think of that before??

The scripture that prompted this is Ephesians 6:11-120:

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to it all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert fwith all perserverance and petiution for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Trinity goes to the Braves Game

As our first official school field trip, we thought it would be a good idea to head up to Atlanta to watch the Braves play a little baseball. It was a bonding trip for the 11 students of Trinity, and we all had a great time! Unfortunately, the Braves didn't echo our enthusiasm and lost, alot. :) But we all had a super time watching (and getting burnt to a crisp!). Here are some pictures from that day...
